ALL ROADS WILL LEAD TO THE CITY.
BY SIX BAD. Oh come, ye sporting people, come to Christchurch; hie from far and near, for things will soon be moving some—our week of carnival is here. The faithful honest farming folks from Kowai Bush and Kaiapoi will come to back the tardy mokes and seek at Riccarton their joy. The West Coast bushman’s brawny arm, which oft the forest monarchs smote, will seek the gods of luck to charm by putting money on the tote. The shepherd from Amuri way towards the town will fairly leap, and later find on Saturday that he. himself is quite a sheep. And then from places far afield, society will make their way; the men their luckless bets to yield, the girls their dresses to display. The frenzied wowsers of the town all this excitement will deplore, each season they are crying down our week of pleasure more and more. Some day they may find what they seek—there was a fellow long ago, who come to Christchurch for the week, and only went to see the Show.
