BELGIUM ADOPTS ECONOMY LEGISLATION.
Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. BRUSSELS, July 22. The first decrees under the powers c onferred on the King provide penalties for spreading false news likely to disturb credit. The powers also prohibit the milling of flour finer than that prescribed by the Minister of Labour, who is empowered to modify the quality to the extent of mixing with wheat 5 per cent of maize. Owing to the collapse of the franc the Belgian Government is passing legislation to deal drastically with the situation. 1 1 is conferring on his Majesty for six months the necessary pavers to decide questions relating to note circulation and loans. Supplies and the manufacture .of bread are to be strictly controlled and pure white bread is to be discontinued. By this, .50.000 francs daily will be saved on wheat imports. The telegraphs, telephones and railways are being transferred to national companies, the Government keeping the ordinary shares.
