Flower Of Scotland Skittled By Grimmett.

MOST OF THEM FELL INTO TRAP—OLDFIELD HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT.

Scotland’s best batsmen could do nothing with Grimmett. Bowling splendidly, he captured seven for 42. Australia has made 208 for the loss of one wicket. Woodful! seems certain of another century.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Reuter's Telegrams. (Received Tub* 22. 11 a.m.) LONDON. July 21. The day was bright but blustery for the match with Scotland at Edinburgh. There was some rain overnight. The Scottish team was: G. Hole J. Kerr. \Y. Anderson. H. Sievwright, < Groves, C. Paterson, J. Fleming. J Parker, A. Innes, J. Collins and eir. The Australian team was: Bardsley,

(“I I and and Glove.”)

Gregory, Oldfield, Taylor, Andrews, Everett, Mailey, Ponsford, Grimmett, Woodfull and Ryder. Scotland won the toss. The attendance was 5000. Grimmett was in excellent form. Most of his wickets were gained by trapping the batsmen into jumping forward to drive, so that they were either bowled or were stumped by Oldfield, who kept magnificently. He stumped three and caught two. Oldfield did most of the fielding, the remainder of the team being called on very little. Weir gave a bright exhibition, hitting Grimmett freely. He went out in attempting to pull a short ball, giving Ponsford his first wicket, the break beating the bat. Bardsley and Woodfull. after a slow opening, did not hesitate to go forward and scored freely, mostly singles. Aftea tea practically every ball yielded a score. Bardsley, when the first wicket had put on 143, succumbed to a ball from Anderson, which he attempted to glance to leg, but pulled on to the wicket. Gregory imparted liveliness to. the game, hitting out powerfully. Woodfull was safe. He indulged in crisp drives. Scores: SCOTLAND. First Innings.
