CAUSE OF MINERS’ PHTHISIS WELL KNOWN.
(Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, July 21. It is unnecessary, states the Minister of Labour, to make a comprehensive investigation as to the cause and remedy respecting miners’ consumption (pneumoconiosis), as the cause has been well known for some years, and a mechanical remedy for minimising the cause of the disease having been devised, its use was made effective by the passing of the Mining Amendment Act, 1919.
