BOGUS AUDITOR SENT TO GAOL.
FORGED TELEGRAM FROM FINANCE MINISTER. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 5. At the Police Court, Edward Hedley Kitchener Hughes, who pleaded guilty to obtaining credit of fifty shillings by representing himself as a Government auditor, was sentenced to threat years’ reformative treatment. Accused had buttressed his fraud by forging a telegram purporting to be from the Hon W. Downie Stewart, Finance Minister. The police statement showed that accused had already had two years’ probation and three years’ reformative treatment, having been released in August, 1024.
