SEASON WAS BAD.

FLOWER FANCIERS ARE DISAPPOINTED. The annual report presented to the Canterbury Horticultural Society last evening: stated that, owing to the very unfavourable season experienced last year, the society’s operations did not come up to expectations. Three shows, a spring, a rose and a chrysanthemum show, were held during: the year. The spring: show was a creditable display and drew favourable comment from the. judge, Mr T. H. Clark. The rofce show did not attain to the success that was antio.ipa.ted, and resulted in a loss. The chrysanthemum show 7 proved the best display of the year.. The cup for the best, exhibit by nurserymen was won by Mr W. Jones. Officers were elected as follow: —Patron, his Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson; president. Sir R.
