CHARMING PAVLOVA WILL BE GIPSY TO-NIGHT.

A complete change of programme will be made at the Pavlova entertainment in the Theatre Royal to-night. The opening ballet will be “Amarilla, ” a fragile little drama of true love and false. In the guise of a coitnt, a peasant has wooed and won the heart of Amarilla, the gipsy maid. The action of Amarilla is founded on an old gipsy folk song. The character of Amarilla is played by Pavlova, who, needless to say, makes a most charming gipsy. The music is by Glazounoff and Drigo. “Chopiniana” will reveal a set of dances collaborated t« blend the wonderful melodies of the Polish master, Chopin. Chopin composed primarily for the piano, but he was essentially a master of moods, and so in the series of nine dances his genius takes on new and irresistible beauties. The divertissements include. “Obertass” (Lewandovslci). “Californian Poppy” (Tschaikowsky). “Hollande Dance” (Grieg), “Moment Musical” (Schubert), “Valse Sentimentale” (Schubert), “En Sourdine” (Talam), and “The Hours” (Ponchielli). The musical portion of the programme will be in the capable bands of Lucien Wurmser. This programme will be repeated tomorrow night, when the season will be brought to a conclusion, but there will be a special programme for to-mor-row afternoon’s matinee.
