A Wanganui man who wanted to know when the first motor-ear appeared in that town sought assistance at a local newspaper office. He was referred to the newspaper files, and after turning back the pages of the past he read the following letter written to the editor on April 8, 1903: . Sir—“As horses in this'district arc unaccustomed to motorcars, 1 will be very glad to arrange with owners of horses to meet at. some specified time and place when any horse can be shown my motor-car and get accustomed to the sight and sound of same. ” For every pound earned in England, the Rev Dr J.
