PROUD M.P. HAS EXCELLENT TEETH

BLAMES SUGARY DIET FOR DENTAL DECAY. (Special to the “Star ”) WELLINGTON. June 23. Boasting the possession of a good set of teeth. Mr Tones (Marsden), seconder of the Address-in-Reply motion in the House last night expressed an opinion as to the reason why many people are not similarly blessed. “I have got all the teeth I ever had.” he declared, apropos work of the dental clinics under the administration of the Health Department. “I have still got my teeth and I have eaten some pretty hard fare in this country when 1 was a boy. I think that is the reason why I have the set of teeth I have to-dav. I think we shall have to get Legislation covering all these ‘ rolldowns’ and ‘knock-overs.’ for I have an idea that a good deal of the trouble with people’s teeth comes from things like that.” Mr Jones made an allusion to chocolates and added that people in New Zealand ate more sugar per capita than the people of any other country in the world. The question of diet had a great deal to do with the preservation of the teeth.
