Mrs S. C. Thompson, New Brighton, is visiting Wellington. Mrs Hazel is the guest of Mrs S. Ilickmott, Stunner. Mrs W. J. Cunningham, Kelburn, Wellington, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs Arthur Grigg, Longbeach, is spending a few days in Christchurch. Mrs W. Whyte, who has been spending some months at Sumner has gone to reside at Avonside, Christchurch. Misses Bathgate and M'Lean, Waiau, arrived in Christchurch yesterday, and are staying at Warner's Hotel. Mrs Leonard, Conway Street, Spreydon, has returned home from a holiday spent with friends at Ellesmere. Miss E. C. Ellis has been appointed to the position of charge sister at the Upper Sanatorium, Cashmere. Mrs Donald Dobson has returned to Christchurch from a visit in the North Island. Miss Olive Thomas, who has been spending a few weeks at Halkett, lias returned to her home at Poranui. Miss Roma Monck-Robinson left last evening for Auckland, where she will spend a few months with her father at “Motatapu.” Mrs R. Browning (Cashmere Hills) and her sister, Miss M. Clarke, returned to Christchurch yesterday after a holiday in Tasmania and Australia. Mrs W. Lochhead, of “Altonbrook,” Southbridge. is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. K. Anderson, St Andrew’s College, Christchurch. Mr E. Bohan, of the Bank of Australia, Christchurch, and Mrs Bohan, are at present the guests of Mr and Mrs Ned Bohan, of Woodville Street, Leeston. Miss M’Connetl, Christchurch, who was with Mrs Blyth, “Mount Donald.” Waipara, has returned to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Hunter-Weston, Timaru, Mrs R. Brodie. Rangitata; Mrs J. Forrester and Mr and Mrs G. N. M’Guckin, Akaroa., are amongst the guests at the United Service Hotel. Sister Gibbon, who has held the position of Sister in Charge at the Coronation Hospital for some time, has resigned. The vacancy has been filled by the appointment of Sister C. M. Morris. Mrs Guy Fulton, Amberlcy, who has been a few days in Christchurch, returned to her home to-day. Mr and Mrs Campbell Hay have returned to Pigeon Bay from Christchurch. ilr and Mrs Leslie Jamieson returned to their home in Rotherham, after a brief stay in Christchurch. Mrs T. Masefield, of Akaroa, arrived in Christchurch this morning, and is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mrs Thomas, who has been staying with Mrs Harold Barker (Fendalton) has returned to Auckland. Mrs C. E. Thomas, Le Cren's Terrace, Timaru, has returned to the south from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Fred Walker are spending a fortnight in Palmerston North prior to sailing for Sydney by the Uiimaxoa. Mrs Edgar Reay, Durham, who is visiting her mother, Mrs W. Burt, Dunedin, will return to Christchurch on Monday. Mr and Mrs George Macdonald (North Canterbury) are staying with Lady Clifford at Avonholme (Fendalton). Mr and Mrs J. F. Studholme, who have been for a trip to the South Sea Islands, returned to New Zealand in the Niagara, and are expected to arrive in Christchurch on Saturday. A euchre and dance was given in the North Lin wood schoolroom last Saturday evening in aid of the North Linwood Burgesses’ Association. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr S. Whitworth’s orchestra. Mr ADeihl was M.C. Extras were plaj’ed byMrs F. Booth. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr O’Connor and Miss D. Stewart. The euchre prizes were won as follows:—Ladies. Hall, Canterbury Street, Lyttelton, was a scene of gaiety on Saturday* evening, when Evelyn, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Porteous. celebrated her coming of age. The hall was tastefully decorated with pink and green streamers and foliage. A lucky spot dance was won by Miss G- Schimanski and Mr D. Price, and an ! orange dance by Miss N. Gray and Mr W. Morton. Musical items were given by Misses Schimanski and E. Muxlow. A competition was won by Miss E. Porteous and Mr T. Lowe. A dainty supper was served- The usual toasts were honoured and the guest of the evening was presented with a gold key. The music was supplied by Mr S. Lambert, extras being played by Misses S. On Tuesday night the Timaru Travellers held their annual dance in vi e Bay Hall, which was brilliantly Lit and decorated with multi-coloured streamers, tree ferns and suspended balloons and lanterns. The supper room looked charming with tree ferns and foliage, and the tables were arranged with pink and white roses and chrysanthemums. Campbell's Band supplied music. Some beautiful dresses were worn, and all the dancers wore gay-coloured paper caps. Mrs Purdon was in flame panne velvet and cream lace; Mrs George Andrews, saxe georgette; Mrs. M. S.
