Varsity Women Should Be Urged Migrate To N.Z. DELEGATE AT CONFERENCE AVERS THAT EDUCATED GIRLS RATHER THAN DOMESTICS ARE NEEDED IN THE DOMINION. Ey Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.—Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received June 24, II a.m.) LONDON, June 23. The suggestion that, in view of the preponderance of men in New Zealand, it was perhaps .rather dangerous for the authorities to encourage the migration of domestics rather than educated women, was made bv a lady delegate to the British Commonwealth League Conference on Empire Migration, after an address by Mr Sandford, of the High Commissioner’s Office, in regard to opportunities for women in New Zealand, in which he pointed out that such opportunities were primarily domestic. Mrs Corbett Ashby, who presided, agreed with the delegate’s view, and suggested that University women should be encouraged to emigrate.
