LAUNCH PARTY HAD TO PULL ASHORE. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, June 24. The breakdown of the launch on Lake Tarawera caused some discomfort to a “round trip” party on Saturday, j The launch had just cleared Moura Point when the breakdown Occurred. Mr A. Warbriek (one of the few sur- | vivors of the Native Rugby team of I 1888-18S9) decided that it was not safe to proceed with oars for fear of drifting out into the lake. He worked inshore and lighted a fife, which was seen by Mrs War brick, who correctly inter- } preted that the launch was in trouble. She telephoned to Mr C. Way, who j immediately went to the wharf and } took steps to organise relief. The launch party eventually reached Rotorua at | midnight.
