DOUBLE LIFE IS SHOWN AT CRYSTAL.

“ THE BEST PEOPLE ” MAKES GOOD SECOND FEATURE. The principle of contrast, clear, sharp, amazing if possible, is one of the surest means of fixing public at- . tention in literature. The same prin- , ciplc is observed successfully in the | pictures at times. With complete suej cess, although in a somewhat different j way, it is made the theme of an abj sorbing story, “ Street of Forgotten Men,” shown at Greater Crystal Palace. i The contrast is secured by the I double life led by a man, who is a | mendicant king by day and a highly respectable man of business parading , Fifth Avenue and living in a luxurious ! cottage, by night. The second feature, “ The Best People,” is a comedy. but not a comedy pure and simple. Behind its gaiety there is much solid truth. Two children of wealth, both shamefully spoiled, decide to marry to suit themselves. The girl chooses a | chauffeur, the son clioses a chorus singer. The girl threatens to leave j home rather than give up her chauf- | four; the son threatens to drink him--1 self to death rather than live without | his little actress. The chauffeur proves , to be an honest, chivalrous fellow’, sinj cerely in love w’ith the girl; the actress is as sensible as she is hard-working ; and brainy, the only person w'ho has a good influence on the weak, pampered son of the wealthy parents. It is easy to guess Avho are the best people in this Paramount story. The Symphony Orchestra provides an admirable musical programme.
