Professor Hugh Stewart, who has been appointed to the chair of Latin at Lced s University, is expected to leave for England on August 20. He will take up his duties in September. Dr Rattray, senior dental surgeon at the Christchurch Hospital, has resigned his position. Messrs S. A. Campbell (Sydney) and A. Schloss (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr N. Wallace (Auckland) is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. The average daily number of patients in Hospital during May was 338.2. In the venereal diseases’ department there were 1191 attendances, representing 373 patients, 35 of whom were new.
