MORE LAND FOR HOSPITAL BOARD.

PLAN TO PURCHASE AREA IN CASHMERE. A proposal to purchase 88 acres of land at Cashmere with a view of providing for future needs was placed before Dr Valintine, Director-General, at. a meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board this morning. Mr A. T. Smith said that the area of land was ideal for future requirements. Jt belonged to the Selwvn Plantation Board, and they had given an option to the board to purchase for £I6OO. In time to come the land would be very valuable. The Board would be well adVised to procure this blockDr Valintine: It seems to me to be an extraordinarily good offer. I should be inclined to close. On the suggestion of Mr Smith, Dr Valintine agreed to make an inspection of the site on bis next visit to (.hristchurch. which he said would probably be in a week's time.
