TAX INCREASES LIKELY IN BRITAIN.

Several amendments were defeated including a suggested reduction in sugar and whisky duties and the entertainment tax. Mr Churchill stated that instead of a remission there was a probability, if the present situation continued, that the revenue must be strengthened.
