FIRE DESTROYS HOME AND CONTENTS.

Per Press Association. HASTINGS, June 23. Early this morning an eight-roomed residence in Duke Street, owned and occupied by Guy Rochfort, was destroyed by fire. The brigade was handicapped by the distance from the main, water supply. Consequently the pressure at the end of 1900 ft was negligible, but they saved the outbuildings. The Rochi'orts escaped in their clothes. Practically all the furniture and contents were lost. The outbreak is attributed to a fire left in the din-ing-room and probably a defective chimney. The insurances on the house amounted lo £2OOO, and on the contents to £SOO.
