MARTYR’S SERVICES VERY SOON FORGOTTEN.

LONDON, June 10. That the memory of the public is short is revealed by the announcement that subscriptions to the fund to perpetuate the memory of the late Professor Maxwell Lefroy, the famous entomologist (who died in October last from the effects of poison gas, with which he was experimenting to eradicate pests to humanity), realised only £79, of which £SO was spent in postage and printing. The trustees of the fund have purchased two gold medals, costing £33, and will award the first this year for an essay on flies. In the meantime, it is hoped that someone will donate £3OO to make the award permanent.
