NATIVE PROPHET ABLE TO DUPE CREDULOUS.
Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 21. A letter from the Rev O. Michelsen to the Foreign Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church reported that during his absence from Tongoa, New Hebrides, one of the natives had laid claim to prophetical powers and had predicted the imminent destruction of the island. The calamity was to be averted only by " repentance and hard cash,” In this way the man had secured a substantial sum from credulous islanders.
