PROSECUTION OF ROLL-DOWN PARLOURS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 4. The first prosecution in W*lington against the proprietors of Roil Down Parlours was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Harold Percival Bishop and Alfred Dawson pleaded not guilty to using premises as a common gaming house and alternatively playing at a game of chance known as “ Roll Down ” in a public place. The police stated that evidence would show the profits to be excessive, amounting to 100 per cent. The game unnecessarily increased the gambling spirit. The balls were not true and the tables not level. (Proceeding.)
