TOY DOGS WERE DISPLAYED TO-DAY.

.The Christchurch Poultry, Pigeon. Canary- and Cat Club held the Toy £>og I Section of its annual show at King Edward Barracks this morning, the competitors being judged by Mrs George J Lewis, of Christchurch. I The dogs, whose numbers were | slightly less than at last year’s show. I seemed to feel somewhat out of their | element among the flocks of fowls, I ducks, canaries, and pigeons, and their ! shrill little barks provided no sort of opposition for the strong chorus o{ crowing, quacking and cackling from the feathered exhibits. The standard of the toy dogs was high, and in many of the classes the competition was very close, in spite of the small entries. In the Australian Terrier division, the only entries camfrom Mr J. Marshall's redoubtable team, which it is fairly safe to say would take a lot of beating in any city in Xew Zealand. The best entries were in the Pomeranians, the Sydney Silkies, and in the ladies’ classes. The award for the best dog in the show wetat to Mrs Baldoc-k’s Brookland i Buzz.
