CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr FI. A. Young, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender, a cripple, was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness. He was warned that a fine would be inflicted for any future offence of the kind. BY-LA55' CASES. Clifford Harper was fined 20s and costs for having cycled on a footpath Edgar Miller was fined 10s and Percy Mortlock 20s for similar offences. A. 55'. Lawrence, for driving a car without having a license, was fined 5s and costs. His car collided with a cart driven by Ernest Edward Colombus at Chaney’s Corner. A charge of having driven negligently, made against Colombus, was adjourned for a fortnight, after the evidence of Lawrence had been taken. John George Holmes was fined 10s for leaving a motor-car unattended and 10s for not having lights on it, costs being added in each case. Albert Messervey, who allowed horses to wander on a Marshland road, was mulcted in 20s and costs. Herbert Lodge, who left a motor standing at night without lights, was fined 10s and costs. UNDER DEFENCE ACT. Edward Roberts was proceeded against under the Defence Act for having failed to notify the Defence authorities of a change of address and was fined £5 and costs.
