LIBERTY HAS FINE STORY OF NEW YORK.
“ CONFESSION OF A QUEEN ” IS SECOND BIG FEATURE.” The main feature at Liberty Theatre, “ Little Old New York,” takes one back to the days when New York was not the great city that it is to-day. It tells a tale of intrigue and adventure that is equalled only by its setting. The story is of a little Irish girl who emigrates to America in order to make a fortune. Her brother has died on the ship, and she dons male attire in order to make her way. After many sensational episodes she finds her happiness in a satisfactory manner. The picture is not all sensationalism, however, but includes some exceptionally fine comedy work. “ Confessions of a Queen ” is an adaptation of the novel “ Kings in Exile,” by Alphonse Daudet, and fairly bristles with plots and counter-plots, and with the intrigue and underground diplomacy that was popularly supposed to go on in royal palaces. There is a political marriage, a revolutionary fanatic, a gory revolution, an abdication, and the selection of a popular prince to occupy the throne. The LibertyOrchestra, under the direction of Mr Ernest Jamieson plays a special musical programme.
