Mr IT. S. S. Kyle, M.P.. will leave for Wellington this evening. A London cablegram says that Sir Francis Bell has been sworn in as a member of the Privy Council. Mr W. Mr Hudson handed Mr Ward an engraved gold watch, and an etching for Mrs Ward. Mr J. R- Kerrigan said that Mr Ward's work in connexion with farm schools had been crowned with success. Messrs L. Paynter and J. Andrews also congratulated the guest on his promotion. Mr Ward said his parting shot to them would be to avoid any suggestion of “Government stroke.” By enthusiasm in their work they would feel that they were not working to a dead end. lie thanked them sincerely for their presentation and good wishes.
