NORTH ISLAND TO PLAY SOUTH AT SOCCER.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 2. The management committee of the Football Association last night received a letter from the New Zealand Council asking the opinion of the local centre regarding a proposed North v. South Island match this season. It was resolved to agree to the fixture and also to release any Auckland players selected to take part. Amended rules governing competition for the English Football Association trophy were submitted, and dates for further matches for the trophy were approved as follows: — August 7, Canterbury v. Auckland, at Auckland. September 18, Otago v. Auckland, at Auckland. The Chatham Cup final will be played at Wellington on September 4.
