Mr Wright, Minister- of Education, replying to a deputation which asked for additions to Wellington Technical <’ollege, said that questions were being asked as to whether the Education Department was getting value for expenditure and spending in the right, direction. lie could not answer these questions and yet agreed that technical education in Wellington had been thrust on one side. Proceeding, he said: “A great many promises had been made before I came into office. Committments have been made by my predecessor, which I shall certainly have to redeem. There can be no escape from them. This is going to handicap me very severely in ray first year of office.” The present request would be brought before Cabinet, he said.
