GRAVE SITUATION ARISES IN EGYPT.
BRITISH WORRIED OVER ZAGHLUL’S MOVES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. CAIRO, June 1. Ordinarily, Ziwar Pasha, would have handed in his resignation yesterday morning but difficulties have arisen and it has consequently been postponed. It is generally understood that Sir George Lloyd insisted on guarantees in the event of Zaghlul forming a cabinet. These were not forthcoming. It is also understood that Zaghlul desired to include Ahmed Maher, who was among those acquitted at the recent murder trial. The diplomatic correspondent of the “ Daily Teilegraph ” says it is understood that the British Government is extremely dissatisfied with the result of the recent trial of the men charged with the murder of the late Sirdar, but nothing has yet been decided. The general situation in Egypt is undoubtedly grave.
