P. AND T. DEPT. SHOWS BIG PROFIT FOR YEAR.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. June 1. The Won W. Nosworthv announced to-night that the revenue of the Post and Telegraph Department in the past year was £3,100.000, as against £2,889,048 for the previous vear. Notwithstanding an increase of £60,000 in salaries, the total expenditure %vas £9OOO less than irt the previous year. The Minister emphasised the ramifications of the Department, which included last year motor registration and census and electoral work. A total of 132,811 motors had been registered, and £354,500 collected. This demonstrated as never before the Department's elasticity and efficiency, which the Government appreciated The Minister added that about £48.000.000 were invested in the Saving:Bank. - -
