In connection with the wireless tests with Australia the “ New York Times ” signals this morning were received direct by Mr R. White, of Auckland, Station IAO, whose replies were also received direct, no intermediary American station being employed. Mr White declared that he copied “ The Times's ” dispatch with ease, stating that he would relay the same to Australia. Mr White, moreover, sent a seventy-five word message, reporting the bad weather in Auckland, four days’ rains having produced washouts and deranged the water supply system and flooded the rivers. He also stated that the rairi was continuing. It is believed that the New York messages during the past two days have reached their Australian destinations, though not direct reply from Australia has yet been received.
