with the Rabbi Cominsky in his tribulations. This story is not entirely a domestic one. With a regard for a’.', tastes a tender romance threads its way through the main theme; like a flower that struggles for self-expres-sion, its flourishes in this Ghetto of modern America, a strange, powerful love story between a son of Israel and a daughter of Erin. Both these aspects of “His People” are gems of artistry in their own line, and would make an oustanding story offered ’alone, but taken together they form a picture that has no peer in the realm of domestic or romantic drama. Too much praise cannot be given Rudolph Schildkraut for his characterisation of the Rabbi : is is a dignified, finely-poised portrayal, flashing with the inner fire of the lie brew, tingling with wonderful humour. Though the other artists may be masters of their roles, Schildkraut dominates them all, not so much by power of personality but by his direct force of acting. Blanche Mehaffey, Kate Price, Arthur Lubin and George Lewis are the other stars, who are supported by a carefully-chosen cast of extras. Also presented on the same programme is a Metro-Gold wyn picture, “The Denial,” in which Claire Windsor and William iTaines share honours. This is a well-constructed, finely-acted story of superior conception in plot and treatment, and the message it conveys and the warning it delivers might well be taken to heart by many too-ambil-ious mothers. Claire Windsor, in a dual role, is an accomplished actress. The Liberty Concert Orchestra, under Mr Ernest Jamieson, will play x special musical programme, including the following numbers: —Overture, “Under the Double Eagle” (Wagner); “Impressions Rustique” (Razigade); “La Source”; ballet music (Delibes), “Lilac Time” (Schubert) ; “La Paloma” (Yradier) ; “Indian Love Call” (Frirnl) ; “Zallah” (Lorraine); “Rose of My Heart” (Yader) ; “Rose Marie” (Frirnl) ; entr'acte “Ukeleie Lady” (Ronald Whiting). The box plans are at the Bristol Piano Company, where seats may be reserved.
