WORK WILL SOON BE COMPLETED AT LAKE COLERIDGE

The construction work in connection with the extension of the. Lake Coleridge hydro-electric scheme will be completed in the very near future. Next Sunday the work of connecting the two chambers will be completed. Practically' the only work then remaining to be done will be the removal of the top of the intake cylinder in the lake. This will be carried out in about a week’s time. The water will then be admitted to the intake tunnel, where it will be held until the intake gates are opened, enabling it to flow into the new tunnel and through it to the surge chamber and pipe lines to the power house. It is proposed to make a connection between the. two tunnels at the intake end at a later date. This work will be carried out after the two new gene rators of 7500 kilowatts each are in operation, during a period when the demand is low, enabling the whole of the existing generators to be shut down for two days. Mr J. Beban’s. co-operative tunnelling party has now practically' broken up, onlv about half a dozen of the members being still at Lake Coleridge.
