Peret subsequently had a conference with the Bank of France, after which M. Peret announced that the agreement with the Bank of France and the Government had never been broken, despite insinuations to the contrary They were consider ing new methods of restoring the franc and pourparlcrs were progressing sat—isfaetorily. The Bank of France was resolved to support the Government until. the franc was victorious. M. Peret, in the course of a statement after the conference between M. Briand and the Governor of the Bank of France, said the recovery of the franc had been made without appealing for foreign aid.‘ He hoped the improvement would become more marked. M. Peret‘s promised measures had re-acted favourably on the franc in London where the French franc closed at 149.75 and the Belgian improved in sympathy to 119.25.77777
