A trout was found at Conishead Priory, Ulverston, with a huge frog in its mouth. Both frog and trout were dead. A stone from Stratford-on-Avon Church has arrived in New York, and will be incorporated in the Episcopal Cathedral of St John the Divine. Bishop Manning has stated that the stone may be built into the “ arts bay" of the cathedral, but that will be determined by the trustees and the architect. "Bet us have the Athens of th* south,” said a member of the Auckland City Council when a civic centre proposal was under discussion, says an Auckland paper. As a matter of fact, there is already an Athens in New Zealand, a small village on the Wanganui River, known by the native name of Atene. Nearby is Koriniti, which hides the identity of Corinth. On one occasion an English tourist, inquired th:meaning of the two names, and was considerably surprised when a Maori with perfect £• jjlish replied: “Athens and Corinth, • o well-known places'."
