The sub-committee appointed to consider the boundaries of the Malvern Sub-Association reported that after conferring with Mr H. C. Townsend, on behalf of the Malvern Sub-Association, it had approved of the sub-association embracing tile following clubs:—Darfield, Sheffield, Ktrwee, Oxford. Oreendale and TTororata. The committee had submitted for the guidance and approval of the Malvern Sub-Association a draft set of rules. The committee recommended that the matter of forming sub-associations in North Canterbury, Ilurunui, Cheviot, Wniau. Leeston. Banks Peninsula and Ellesmere, be referred to the committee, with power to invite representatives from these several districts to discuss the question and submit a comprehensive report at a future meeting. The report was adopted. WILDING PARK. Tn connection with the pavilion at Wilding Park, in February the Ground Committee accepted the tender of Messrs Glue Bros, of £2IOO for tbo erection of a one-storied concrete building (a plan fit* which was submitted to the meeting). This building was now in course of erection.

In accordance with the instructions from the association, the committee gave very full consideration to the question of laying down eight additional bard courts. As the result of representations the British Pavements, Ltd., agreed to construct the eight bituminous courts for the sum of £I2OO. This offer was accepted, and the courts were now being laid. Although it was thought that the extremely wet. winter had had a disassole of grass had improved wonderfully, and tTie prospects of having excellent courts in 1027 were very bright. From the committee’s experience to date it was apparent that a sum of at least £SOO per annum would be required to maintain the park. While the annual cost of maintenance of the ** hard ” courts would not be large, the expenses of keeping the grass courts in proper condition would be very considerable. An estimate of receipts and expenditure covering a period of twelve months had been prepared for submission to the meeting, and the earnest consideration of delegates to this matter was for. The challenge match for the Anthony Wilding Shield between Auckland (the holders) and Canterbury, was played on the United courts on January 1 and 2. and resulted in a win for Canterbury by the narrow margin of one set: the matches being six each. At the invitation of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, in view, of the Exhibition, the annual inter-provincial match. Canterbury v. Otago, was played at Dunedin again this year, on January 1 1, and resulted in a win for Otago by the. narrow margin of one set. the matches being twelve each. Several members of the Canterbury team took part in the Exhibition tournament which commenced on January 15, and Miss M. Muirson won the ladies’ open singles, while Air D. F. Glanville readied the final in the men’s open singles, where he was defeated by Air Page. The annual inter-provincial match. Canterbury v. Wellington, was played at Wellington on February 20. Canterbury was represented by almost its full strength, and won the match by sixteen matches to eight. The report was adopted. Air Goss said it would be a month before the bitumenous courts would be ready for play. PROPOSED JUNIOR ASSOCIATION. On the motion of Air Goss it was decided that a sub-committee be set up to go into the advisability of establishing a junior association in the district and report to a future meeting.
