INDIAN TEAM WILL SOON BE PLAYING. The Indian Army hockey team has arrived in Australia, and is due in Auckland on May 12. X X _ X Selector Holland will .need to get busy, as he has a lot of promising young hockey players to select from. The Indian Army hockey team play two matches in Christchurch, one on June 12 against Canterbury, and a Test match on June 16. The ladies’ hockey competitions begin to-morrow with six senior teams and twelve junior teams. X X X Sydenham’s full-back, AT. A. M‘Donald, has been transferred to Dunedin, and will not be available for his team for about six weeks. lie is playing a great game this season, and was a “ moral ” for the reps. 11 is place will be hard to fill. It is rumoured that J. Sutherland is leaving Technical in order to play with St Albans. X X X . The entries for the primary schools hockey competitions are very slow in coming in. Kirkpatrick, the popular head master of Redcliffs School, and one of hot key’s most enthusiastic and liberal supporters, tendered his resignation at Monday night’s meeting. Mr Kirkpatrick’s chief interest lav in the school boys, and he and Mrs Kirkpatrick were always present at the school boys' matches. Mr L. IT. Norton, father of hockey in Auckland, was in Christchurch in the early part of this week. Mr Norton hopes to return to Auckland in time for the arrival of the Indian team.
