RANGIORA R.S.A. DEBATE THE PURCHASE OF GERMAN GOODS FOR LOCAL USE.
The recent action of the Rangiora Borough Council in purchasing a piano and cinematograph machines of German make, for use in the new Town Hall, provoked a discussion at the annual meeting of the Rangiora Returned Soldiers Association on Saturday night. However, after it had been pointed out that the Council had done what it considered to be the best thing possible with the limited finances at its disposal, the matter was dropped. The Mayor, (Mr R. M’lntosh) said it was a matter for regret that foreign machines had to be purchased but this was in the best interest of the ratepayers.
