MINISTERIAL. The lion \V. Downie Stewart will arrive in Christchurch this evening from Dunedin. lie will proceed to Wellington by the ferry steamer. Advices from Seoul announce the death of ex-Emperor Ti, of Korea. The death is announced, from sleeping sickness of Colonel C. A. The Rev William S. Potter, of the Richmond Avenue Methodist Church. Grey Lynn, celebrated his ministerial jubilee yesterday. Mr Potter, who was twice elected president of the Methodist Church, was born in London in 1554. and landed in Auckland on October 13, 1858, joining the Methodist Sunday school at Alexandra Street, then Edwardes Street, in the following year. He became a member of the church there in 1870, and was for several years secretary'of the school. lie visited England in 1573. While following his trade as a coachbuilder he took private tuition in. preparation for the ministry. being received by the Primitive Methodist Conference in 1876. On April •23 of that year he began his ministerial work in Greendale, Canterbury. Two years later he was appointed to Webb Street. Wellington, and twice recalled, spending eleven years there in all. His other charges have been in Otago and Taranaki.
