CUP FINAL WON BY BOLTON WANDERERS. By Telegraph. —Press Assn.— Copyright. Reuter's Telegrams. (Received April 25. 5.5 p.m.)‘ LONDON, April 24. At Wembley, the Association Cup final was played in dull, cold weather in the presence of 92,000 people, including his Majesty the King. Bolton Wanderers beat. Manchester City one to nil. Jack, the inside right, scoring in the thirty-fourth minute of the second half. Bolton Wanderers well deserved their victory. Jack, inside right, scored late in the second half. He sent in an unstoppable shot from the left wing's centre. Bolton played ten members of the Cup winning team of 1023. Tt is interesting to recall that Bolton on the occasion of the first round draw was first out of the hat and Manchester City last. TREMENDOUS INTEREST. LONDON, April 24. A great invasion of London from the provinces began last night for the Cup final at Wembley and continued all night long. Hundreds of excursion trains are arriving at Huston, while it is estimated that 15,000 will journey from- the north. At least IOO.OOu visitors are certain to .come, of whom probably not half will see the match but will wander the streets sight-see-ing. Jt was announced early this morning that all seats at Wembley were sold, except a few at a guinea and these were sold during the day. PROMOTION AT LAST. HOW THE LEAGUE TEAMS STAND. The British football results below are the latest to reach New Zealand, arriving by Saturday's mail. Huddersfield's position as League champions cannot be assailed, for if won the remaining four matches and Huddersfield lost the remaining three the Yorkshire team would still win on the goal averages unless scoring was abnormal. Sunderland has a modest chance of challenging Arsenal for second place, but has only two more games. Relegation appears to rest with Manchester City, Notts County and Burnley. Sheffield Wednesday and DerbyCounty are practically certain of pro- . motion, while Notts Forest has got out of the ruck and is now safe from the third division. Three teams are fighting to avoid accompanying Stockport to the third division. Chelsea looks like having another season in the second division, although nothing would delight Londoners more than to see the Pensioners back in the first division, but the five points behind are almost too big a handicap. In both Northern and Southern divisions the fight is a hard one for pro>motion, and there are. half a dozen teams in the running for two places. RESULTS OF MATCHES. Following are the results of matches played in the four leading leagues on April 10:

SCOTTISH cm? PINAL. Playing at Hampton Park. Glasgow, St Mirren defeated Celtic bv 2 goals to nil in the final of the Scottish Association Cup. The attendance was 10.620, and the receipts amounted to £3700, exclusive of tax and bookings. Both these are records. Celtic were handicapped at the last minute through M'Lean, the interna- ■ tidal left-winger, being unfit to plav. St Mriren halves dominated throughout, M’Rare causing a sensation at the opening of the play by scoring a "header” from a free kick three minutes after the game had begun. Twentvfive minutes later Howioson scored the second goal for St Mirren. On the resumption of play after the interval the i Celtic defence was almost overwhelmed, only the magnificent play of Slielvin In goal saving them from further defeat.
