FANCY DRESS PARTY.

Mr Hobbs was the convener of the fancy dress party given in St. Saviour's Schoolroom, Brougham Street, on Saturday afternoon, in aid of the funds of the Sydenham Girl Guides — of which Mr Richard Anderson is president The Sydenham company has the distinction of being the oldest in Christchurch and of having the largest number enrolled -as guides. During the afternoon Mrs Bissett's concert party gave a most entertaining programme. for which a hearty vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. The Mayoress, Mrs Archer, Mrs Pollard, Mrs Danvers Ilamber and Miss Mary Enwright had been asked to adjudicate, and they found it a most difficult matter to award prizes when so very many seemed desefving of a prize. Mrs Archer made a charming little speech before the grand match began, led by an Eastern lady. The costumes of all nationalities were represented.
