Over and above this it is estimated that 17.000 tons of raw, and 700 tons of refined sugar, representing South Australia's supply for six months, and valued at £500,000, was destroyed. A tremendous fire broke out at the Glanville works of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, where there was a stock of raw sugar amounting to 1 • ,000 tons. The damage to building and plant is estimated at £IOO,OOO.
