FORTY MILE TOUR OF CITY AND SUBURBS.

BRITISH BOWLERS SHOWN THE SIGHTS

The British bowlers and their wives spent this morning in seeing the sights of the city. They were divided into two parties and were taken on motor tours in cars provided by local bowlers. One part was taken on a forty-mile tour, in which they visited New Brighton, Sumner (where they were the guests of the Sumner Bowling Club at morning tea), Ileathcote Valley, Cashmere Hills, to the Sign of Takahe, Hoon Hay. Riccarton, Fendalton, and back to Cathedral Square through the most picturesque portions of the city. The other party, which comprised only nine of the visitors, went first to Mr J. Bryce’s trotting stables at Hornby. They were received by Mr Bryce’s daughter, who showed them over the estate and the trotting stock. The party afterwards visited Mrs Mabel Duncan’s trotting stud farm, “ Birchholtnes,” Burnside Road, Fendalton. where they were the guests of Mrs Duncan at morning tea. They spent a most interesting time inspecting the farm and afterwards made a tour of the city and suburbs.
