AUCTIONED LEASES FAIL TO FIND BUYERS.
TESTS BEING MADE ON RECLAIMED LAND,
There were no bids for leases of sections on the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s reclaimed land, offered at auction by Messrs Pyne, Gould and Guinness today. Three members of the public, representing firms in Christchurch, attended. Tests are being made on the land as to its suitableness for large buildings, and until these are completed, no steps, probably, will be taken to take up the leases. Three lots were formally offered today : Lot 1,2 acres 19 perches, upset rental £317 16s 3d a year. Lot 2,2 acres, upset rental £3OO a year. Lot 3. 1 acre 3 roods 1 perch, upset rental £263 8s 9d.
