CATCHING THAT UNEXPECTED “LADDER.”

The. idea- of rubbing the top and bottom of a silk stocking “ladder” with a little moistened soap, to prevent it from running, is almost universally practised nowadays.. But it sometimes happens that the ladder will appear when there is no soap to hand. If you have your vanity bag with you, however, rub the stocking with a little vanishing cream, applied thickly over the two running stitches. Within a few moments you will find the cream has become quite stiff and dry. and the stitches will be held in place until you can catch them with needle and thread.
