CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) DRUNKENNESSTwo first offenders were each fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. John Frederick Wooster, a second offender, was fined 40s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. BURGLARY ALLEGED. Charles Edward Southerwood, aged twenty-two, was charged that on January 33 he broke and entered by day the dwelling of George Morse and stole razor blades valued at 2s. He was further charged with having broken and entered by day on January 12 the dwelling of Ethel Hall and stole a money-box, a box of matches and 9d in cash. He was remanded to appear on January 19. MOTORIST CHARGED. William Miller, aged forty-seven, was remanded to appear on January 20 on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car. Bail was fixed at £25. BY-LAW CASES. For motoring without lights, the following penalties were imposed:—Frank V. Banfield 20s, J. A. Brown 20s, S. K. Cunningham 20s, O. Davis 10s, H. A. Glasson ss, R. Howlett costs, D. Rogers costs. For failing to notify the sale of a motor-cycle, E. Grant was fined 10s. For failing to obey a traffic signal E. Ferguson was fined 10s. For pillion riding N. E. England was ordered to pay costs. For having left motor-cars unattended the following penalties were imposed:—A. Cooper 20s, S. K. Cunningham 10s, W. Doubleday ss. For cycling on the footpath the following penalties were imposed:—L. Byrne 20s, P. Boyes 20s, E. G. Dillenger 20s. For cycling at night without lights, Noel Bradley was fined 10s,, B. Littlejohn 20s and P. M'Call 20s. The following penalties were imposed upon unlicensed motorists:—A. W. Bascand £3, H. Buchanan 20s, P. S. Cocks £3, H. Collins £3, H. Coffin £4 (£2 for passing a stationary tram on the wrong side), J. Linton £3, E. R. Mahan £3, P. C. Mortlock £3. A. T. Mutton was fined £5 for speeding. For failing to notify the sale of a motor-cycle W. L. Mason was fined 10s. William Henry Conway, Belfast, was fined £5 for allowing cattle to wander on the North Road. Robert Steele, for cycling without a light, was ordered to pay costs. Francis Henry Steele was fined 10s for allowing a chimney to catch fire. Charles Walker was fined 10s for allowing cattle to wander. Herbert Watson was ordered to pay costs for cycling on the footpath. Henry George Watson, for pillion riding, was fined 20s. For having no license he was fined £3.
