The Fire Brigade received two calls on Christmas Eve. At 6.7 p.m. a call was received to 540, Tuami* Street, occupied by Mr T. C. Tyson, where a washhouse had caught fire. The washhouse was gutted, but no other damage was done. At 8.17 the brigade received a call to Liverpool Street, where a motor-cycle had caught fire.
