ATTACK PLANNED ON FILM MONOPOLY.
BRITISH CABINET WILL START OFFENSIVE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 26, 1 p.tn.i LONDON, December 25. Tt is expected that the Government •will earnestly attack the American film monopoly early in the new year for the purpose of stimulating the production of British pictures. It is most likely that the Government will insist on compulsory inclusion in all programmes of 10 per cent of British films, thus increasing the industry s development. It is also expected that the existing voluntary censorship will be replaced by a compulsory one, which is an important difference. The committee, whose original scheme provided for the compulsory screening of certain British films, rejected this. by. a small majority and exhibitors are now. asked to submit further proposals.
