FRENCH WARS PROGRESS WELL.
SITUATIONS IN SYRIA AND MOROCCO NOW EASIER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 26, 12.5 p.m.) PARIS, December 25. Unconfirmed Damascus dispatches state that the Foreign Office has signed an armistice with the Druzes, suspending all Syrian hostilities. M. de Jouvenal admitted the negotiations, but it is believed that the report of the signing is premature. A Beirut dispatch says the general situation in Syria is improving, the Damascus region being the calmest. A new military post has been established in the Lebanon, following o complete clearance of the bands from the, Aleppo region, where two bandit chiefs were captured. Meanwhile Moroccan reports state that the Riffians under Abd-el-Prim are crumbling rapidly. Numerous tribes are unwilling to resume the operations against the French, as evidence of -which there has been the surrender of the entire Sanhadjaz tribe (considered to be among the most devoted of Ad-el-Krim’s to Colonel Nogues, who received the Senhadjaz machine guns and hostages. Quezzan reports state that the Djebala tribe has revolted and imprisoned several of the chiefs whom Adb-el-Krim had appointed.
