OLD COLLEGIANS’ SPORTS CLUB.

OFFICIALLY OPENED. Formed to keep together 'the old boys of Christ's College interested .n sports, the Old Collegians’ Sports Chib tvus officially opened last night. The rooms are situated on the top floor of the Central Chambers on the corner of High and Cashel Streets. Mr T. de Renzv Harman, the act-ing-president. was in the chair, and seated alongside him '"ere Mr George Harper, sub-warden of the College. Mr Henry C’otterill. a member of the Board of Governors, and the Rev K. C. Crosse, headmaster of the College. The chairman said that they were gathered to celebrated a momentous event in the history of the Collegethe inauguration of an old boys’ social club. It seemed strange that the school had been in existence for over seventy years, and the necessity lor the benefit of such a club had not been realised. Its main object was to keep the. old boys of the school in touch with one another. Some time ago. a cricket cluh. and later, a football club had Won formed amongst the old hoys, and a great amount of enthusiasm had been created. Rarui from the College, lie predicted, would soon be able to hold their own with any team in Canterbury. (Applause.) He outlined the steps taken to form the Old -Collegians’ Sports Club. They did not want the club, he said, to bo simply a useful and pleasant place of resort, but a real source of help and strength to Christ’s College. city. Surely they, as old boys of a school with such splendid traditions, would he willing to do something for their country* render some service to it. and take an active part in the life and affairs of the city.
