“MOST BEAUTIFUL.”
LOW THE PASSENGERS VOTED. (Special to “ Star.") HONOLULU, May 20. According to the daily newspaper published on board the Empress of France, round-the-world liner, which visited Hawaii .recently, Honolulu was voted the " most beautiful city ” by the Travel Club of the cruise. The island of Oahu, upon which Honolulu is located, was voted " the most beautiful island ” visited by the travellers, while the Pali, a mountain vista near the city, took first honours as the "most beautiful view.” According to the newspaper, “ only those sights visited by all passengers were eligible for election.” The list of " most beautiful ” places on the itinerary is given as follows: Island. Oahu; city, Honolulu; country, Italy; harbour. Hong Kong; view, the Pali near Honolulu; drive. Repulse Bay and Hong Kong Peak; street, Cryptomeria Avenue, Nikko; edifice, Taj Mahal. India; temple. leyasu, Nikko; hotel. Majestic, Shanghai; mountain. Fujiyama, Japan; stream, Nile; ladies. Singhalese, Ceylon.
