A tire at the West Ham workhouse , infirmary at midnight imperilled 100 1 ; aged bedridden patients. While the infirmary's volunteer brigade was fighting the flames the master nr the workhouse, attired in pyjamas, directed the removal of the patients the nurses who, as calmly as if it were ordinary routine, removed all of them to safety.
